Foreign Languages Courses at Museum

All students at the NYC Museum School take a 3-year sequence of foreign language. Students who wish to begin a Level 1 class in 9th grade can select between Spanish, French, and Japanese, and students will take that course through 11th grade, at which point they will take the LOTE Comprehensive Examination.

Students who enter 9th grade having begun the study of Spanish in middle school and passed the LOTE Proficiency Examination will begin with Spanish Level 2 in 9th grade and Level 3 in 10th grade. At the end of 10th grade, these students will take the LOTE Comprehensive Examination and take another year of Level 1 French or Japanese in 11th grade.
